Consumating's Question of the Week

What would your personal philanthropic organization hope to achieve?

I'm sure these exist already, but I'd like to create some sort of "scholarship" for teachers. We all know they're not paid enough and schools are generally underfunded, so why not reward the teachers who are finding ways to make it work and help them to make what they do easier or more effective for more students? Most importantly, I'd like these awards not to be aimed specifically at teachers who elicit the highest test scores or help produce the most National Merit Scholars, but, instead, at those who teach students about life, who help students deal with the hell that is high school.

That is a really good idea. Of course mine would probably have something to do with teaching children respect and similar things. But there have been so many teachers in my life that totally deserve another chance to make an even bigger difference and reward themselves.

Re: GAVIN!!!
omg. "i came in through the side door." i haven't thought about that in a hot minute. i had a good little laugh over that just now. man. what fun!

ol' jonesy was my first choice for the picture to go with my answer and he is also my first choice for who to award, but he looked thoroughly unamused in every pic i had of him. i thought gavin would be a better visual sell for those jerks on the consumating site.

if i weren't pathetically un-adult in every way, i'd like to set up a larry jones scholarship fund for teachers. i wouldn't even know how to begin something like that though.

interestingly enough, even though he specifically told me not to be a teacher, jones definitely solidified my long-time dream of going into teaching.
